Rapid determination of phthalate esters in some beverages and investigation of migration at shelf-life by lc-ms/ms

Abstract (EN)

Plastic materials used for packaging of beverages have several advantages like cost-efficient, easy to transport, be resistant to breakage, etc. One of the most critical problems with these is the distribution of phthalate migration in the phases. A primary and eco-friendly method which is using Quick Easy Cheap Effective Rugged Safe (QuEChERS) kits without enrichment is suggested for analyzing six phthalate esters [Dimethyl phthalate (DMP), Diethyl phthalate (DEP), Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP), Dibutyl phthalate (DBP), Bis(2-Ethylhexyl) phthalate (DHEP), Di-n-octyl phthalate (DNOP)] in still beverages, carbonated beverages and spring water by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). After extraction of a sample with QuEChERS SPE, including MgSO4, PSA, C18 substances are analyzed by LC-MS-MS, which has the LOD's between 0.137 and 2.835 µgL-1 and LOQ's between 0.209 and 3.521 µgL-1. The six phthalate esters above-mentioned have in the range of 1.00-6.00 % RSD, and the recovery percent are between 88.8-105. This is the first study of a remark of the phthalate migration for the shelf life in the mentioned beverages, a national industrial area. The data of the migration ratio throughout the shelf life to initial filling to expiry date was investigated.
