Abstract (EN)

Algae are organisms that can be used in agriculture, cosmetics, medicine, industry and many other areas thanks to the many metabolites they contain. Although the water resources of our city are home to many algae species, studies on the contents of these algae are limited and studies on the economy of algae are almost non-existent. With this study, the rivers and irrigation channels in our province; Ulothrix zonata, Fontinalis antipyretica and Spirogyra gracilis algae species were collected and 18 different extracts were created by using two methods and different solvents. The extracted extracts; Some microorganisms that stand out in terms of human health and food safety (Clostridium perfringens (ATCC 13124), Enterococcus fecalis (ATCC 29212), Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922) and E. coli O157:H7 (ATCC 35150), Listeria monocytogenes (RSKK) 02028), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 27853), Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 25923), Streptococcus agalactiae (ATCC 13813)) were investigated by disc diffusion method. As a result of the results obtained; It was observed that each algae species, extraction method and solvent type were effective on antimicrobial properties. It was observed that the extracts obtained using the Soxhlet device (Method B) showed more antimicrobial effect on the selected microorganisms, and the antimicrobial effect was higher in the extracts in which ether was used as a solvent in this method.
