This research was conducted to examine the sportsmanship behaviors of 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade secondary school students studying in 2022-2023 in physical education and sports classes in terms of demographic variables. In the study, it was investigated whether the sportsmanship behaviors exhibited by secondary school students differ according to demographic variables. The population of the research consists of secondary school students studying in official secondary schools affiliated with the Havza Directorate of National Education within the borders of Havza district of Samsun province. The study group was selected by random sampling among the students studying in secondary schools in Havza district of Samsun province. In this context, 1047 (535 boys, 512 girls) students studying in four secondary schools constitute the sample of the study. A personal information form consisting of seven demographic questions and the Physical Education lesson Sportsmanship Behavior Scale (BEDSDS) developed by Koç (2013) were used to collect data regarding the research. SPSS 25.0 program was used to analyze the data collected within the scope of the research. Parametric analysis methods were preferred because the data collected within the scope of the research were suitable for normal distribution. IndependentSamples T-test was used to compare scale scores according to demographic variables with two categories, and OneWay ANOVA analysis was used to compare scale scores according to demographic variables with more than two categories. Pearson Correlation analysis was used to examine the relationship between the scale sub-dimensions and total scores. According to the results of the research, it was determined that the scores of the students in exhibiting sportsmanship behaviors in physical education course were above the middle level in all sub-dimensions, including the sub-dimension of exhibiting positive behaviors, avoiding negative behaviors and the sum of sportsmanship behaviorshas been made.In terms of displaying sportsmanship behaviors according to gender, girls show higher levels of sportsmanship behaviors than boys; In terms of sportsmanship behavior levels according to age, 11-12 age groups have more positive behaviors than 13-14 age groups in the PDS sub-dimension of the scaleIt has been determined that age does not have a determining role in the NDK sub-dimension.In the PDS sub-dimension of secondary school students, regional boarding secondary school students; It was concluded that they exhibited more positive behaviors in the NDK sub-dimension than all others. According to the class variable, it was concluded that 5th graders showed more sportsmanlike behavior than other grades. The study concluded that participating in the competition on behalf of the club did not affect their sportsmanship, but they avoided unsportsmanlike behavior. It was concluded that the type of sport involved is not a determinant in displaying sportsmanship behaviors. It has been concluded that family income status has no effect on the PDS level, and that students with an in come of 5001-10000 TL have higher NDK levels than those with an income of 10001-15000 TL.
