Competencies of physical education teacher candidates and examination of their effect on academic learning time (Application of special teaching methods)

Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of preservice physical education on the requirement and academic learning time. Materials and Methods: The population group of the study consisted of physical education teacher candidates, while the sample group consisted of 24 students from Manisa Celal Bayar University, Faculty of Sport Sciences, Department of Physical Education. The research data were collected by Academic Learning Time - Physical Education Observation Form which was designed by Parker (1989) and adapted to Turkish by Munustur (2011). Explanatory and confirmatory factor analyzes within the scope of validity studies of the scale in data analysis; In the reliability study, item total correlation, cronbach alpha and test retest method were used. In the confirmatory factor analysis, AMOS 22.0 program, which is used in advanced statistical tests, and SPSS 21.0 program were used in the correlation analysis with descriptive tables. Findings: In consequence of BEÖAÖYDGF's Exploratory Factor Analysis, it was detected total variance that the rest 26 subjects explain is at a level of 65,80%. It was detected that the rest 26 subjects' factor load is at a range between 0,61 and 0,84. As a result of Confirmatory Factor Analysis, the scale's fit indices were found out as RMSEA=0,05, GFI/AGFI=0,85, RMR/SMRM=0,06, NFI/NNFI=0,90 and PGFI=0,90. In regards to the results of Confirmatory Factor Analysis, it was detected that covariance relations convenient to modification offers and model fit indices reached to a level of good and very good; factor load is high; coefficient of correlation among factors is at a proper range; t scores which belong to factor load are at a level of 0,01 and significant. According to item analysis results, it was detected Physical Education Preservice Teachers' Teaching Proficiency Class Observation Form's Cronbach Alpha Coefficient is 0,87; sub-dimensions' Cronbach Alpha Coefficient are at a range of 0,74 and 0,79; for all the subjects' at the scale, total item correlation is higher than 0,30(at a range of 0,34 and 0,67). In terms of the results of correlation analysis between the scale's pilot scheme scores and second scheme scores correlation coefficient (r) is at a range of 0,56 and 0,78 and statistically significant. According to the results obtained, the findings that test-retest reliability was provided were obtained. When we look at the relation among Physical Education Preservice Teachers' Teaching Proficiencies and academical learning time, course environment and content dimension; we found out between learning climate proficiency and content of subject matter knowledge there is a negatively and significant relation; between learning climate proficiency and content of subject matter motor knowledge there is a positively and significant relation. At the extent of Physical Education Preservice Teachers' Teaching Proficiencies and academic learning time, and student participation, it was detected that there is no relation between out of motor activity behaviours and inner motor activity behaviours. Results: According to the results of validity and reliability analyzes, it was determined that the Teacher Competencies Scale of Teachers of Physical Education Teachers was a reliable and valid scale with 26 items and 7 dimensional structure. In addition, the presence of the effect of physical education teacher candidates on academic learning time has been revealed.
