Examination of physical education teacher candidates attitudes towards physical activity games in terms of some variables

Abstract (EN)

Game is an important concept for educational science. Many experts have considered the concept of game as a learning art. Therefore, the effectiveness of the game is very important in the development of individuals. In this sense, it is thought that physical education teachers' attitudes towards game will be the most important method of teaching with games. In this study, it is a descriptive study to examine the attitudes of physical education teacher candidates towards game. The universe is studying physical education teacher at different universities in Turkey has been identified as candidates. The sample group consisted of 424 (260 male, 164 female) physical education teacher candidates. In order to obtain the research data, Gamality Scale developed by Hazar (2015) was used. Independent samples t test and One Way Anova analysis were used for data analysis. As a result of the study, it was found that the game passion scores of the study group were high, social adaptation and game desire scores were low, and the scores obtained in the risk taking and pleasure sub-dimensions were found to be moderate. In terms of gender variable, it was found that female teacher candidates had higher scores in game passion and enjoyment sub-dimensions, while male students scored higher in social adjustment subscale. It was found that individuals over 25 years of age had lower scores in risk taking and enjoyment subscales in terms of age variable and those in the 20-24 age group had higher scores in the social harmony subscale than other groups. In terms of academic achievement variable, it was found that the groups with lower grade point average had more attitudes towards the game. In addition, it can be said that attitudes towards the game do not differ in terms of income level, type of high school and grade level.
