Determining and comparison of democratic attitudes of physical education teachers accordding to the different variables

Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study was to determine the democratic attitudes of pyhsical education teachers and to mention in what sense their attitudes derive according to their sex, marital status, education level, the university they graduated, working period in their profession, Professional position (director-teacher) the city where they work.The subject;of the study were 459 physical education teachers working as a permanent staff in the state schools in 2007-2008 educational year, from seven cities chosen from seven regins in Turkey (the Mediterranean Region-Mersin, the Black Sea Region-Samsun, the Southerneast Region-Gaziantep, the Central Anatolia Region-Eskişehir, the Eastern Anatolia Region-Erzurum, the Aegean Region-Denizli, the Marmara Region-Bursa).In order to collect data a questionnaire form for personel informations (sex, age, marital status, educatiom level and their working position) and a democratic attitude scale by Büyükkaragöz, Yılmaz and Kesici (1996) were used.İn analyzing of data the average and Standard variations in order to the level of teachers democratic attitudes were used. The Mann Whitney U test was applied to compare sex, educational level and their working position as a physical education teacher. The Kruskal Wallis H test was used to compare age, the university they graduated, marital status, working period and the city they work. Significant figure was found as p<0.05.According to the results of the study:1. The average score of democratic attitude scale of the physical education teachers who joined the study was 38.67 and standart variation was 3.31. Twerefore it was understood that physical education teachers have democratic attitudes in their profession.2. Among democratic levels of teachers who participated in this study there was no specific difference according to their sex (p>0.05).3. Among democratic levels of teachers who participated in this study, there was no spesific difference according to their age (p>0.05).4. Among democratic levels of teachers who participated in this study, there was no spesific difference according to their marital status (p>0.05).5. Among democratic levels of teachers who participated in this study, there was no spesific difference according to their education level (p>0.05).6. Among democratic levels of teachers who participated in this study, there was no spesific difference according to the university they graduated (p>0.05).7. Among democratic levels of teachers who participated in this study, there was no spesific difference according to their working period in their profession (p>0.05).8. Among democratic levels of teachers who participated in this study, there was no spesific difference according to their working period in their position (p>0.05).9. Among democratic levels of teachers who participated in this study, there is no spesific difference according to the cities they worked (p<0.05).Key words: Physical Education Teacher, Democratic Attitude, Demografic features.
