Determination of the professional professionalism and commitment to the profession levels of physical education teachers

Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to determine the professional commitment and professional professionalism levels of physical education teachers and examine the relationship between them. The study sample of the research consists of 142 physical education teachers working in Bolu province and its districts in the fall and spring semesters of the 2019-2020 academic year. Scanning model was used in the research. The personal information form prepared by the researcher, the "Commitment to the Teaching Profession Scale" developed by Kozikoğlu and Senemoğlu (2018) and the "Teachers' Professional Professionalism Scale" developed by Yılmaz and Altınyurt (2014) were used in data collection to determine the sociodemographic characteristics of physical education teachers. Frequency, percentage, skewness and kurtosis tests, Levene Test, independent groups t test and Pearson Correlation test were used to analyze the data. When the research findings were examined, it was determined that the physical education teachers who participated in the study had a high level of commitment to the profession. A statistically significant difference was not found when all sub-dimensions of the scale of commitment to the profession and the scores obtained from the whole scale were compared according to the variables of gender, type of school, education level and professional seniority (p> 0.05). In addition, it was concluded that the professional professionalism level of physical education teachers was high. When all sub-dimensions of the teachers' professional professionalism scale and the scores obtained from the whole scale were compared according to the variables of gender, education level and professional seniority, no statistically significant difference was found (p> 0.05). While there is no statistically significant difference between the scores of the physical education teachers' professional sensitivity, contribution to the institution, emotional labor sub-dimensions of the "Professional Professionalism of Teachers Scale" and the scores obtained from the whole scale (p> 0.05), A statistically significant difference was found in favor of the teachers working in secondary schools according to the variable of school type (t = 2.143; p <0.05 KEYWORDS: Physical Education Teacher, Professional Commitment, Professional Professionalism
