Problems of physical education teachers and effects of these problems on teachers? performances (Sakarya city sample)

Teachers are one of the most important elements for Turkish National Education System to reach its general and private goals. This research was conducted in order to determine the problems of physical education teachers who have an effective, important and inevitable role in education, and the effects of the problems on their performances.In the research, firstly, theoretical literature was examined about education, physical education and the duties of physical education teachers and later, information which was gained through a questionnaire applied to the physical education teachers who worked in Sakarya between 2006 and 2007 was evaluated. The questionnaire was composed of two parts: personal information and the degree of effects and participating in the problems, and. Totally 127 physical education teachers gave right answers which can be evaluated.SPSS packet program was used to analyze the data got from the results of applied questionnaires. Besides ?descriptive statistical techniques?; ?t-test?, ?one way ANOVA test? and ?tukey test? were used to analyze the data considering the problems and sub-problems of the research. Meaningfulness level was accepted as 0.05 in the statistical analyses.As a result of the analyses, a meaningful variation wasn?t observed in the perception of participating in problems of physical education teachers in terms of sex, age, years in service and place of service. There were meaningful variances in the levels of physical education teachers? participating in problems about school and parents, school programs, lesson process, association and lesson sources, and occupational problems and it was determined that their performance was affected. It is thought that solving the problems of physical education teachers will make contributions to reaching general and special educational provisions enabling them to make useful lessons and to Turkish people for having a place among modern civilizations.
