The Effect of Tactical Game Approach on Cognitive Flexibility and Academic Self in Physical Education Course Introduction and Aim It is important to consider students' psychomotor development as well as their cognitive and affective development in Physical Education and Sport Classes. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of tactical games approach on cognitive flexibility and academic self in physical education and sports classes. Material and Method The sample of the study consists of 34 secondary school students (17 subjects, 17 control groups). The Experimental design model was used in the research. The tactical game model was applied to the students in physical education classes for 10 weeks. As a data collection tool were used the 'Academic Self Scale' developed by Burden (1998) and adapted to Turkish by Erten (2015) and the 'Cognitive Flexibility Scale' developed by Martin and Rubin (1995) and adapted to Turkish by Çelikkaleli (2014). The analysis of the data was used descriptive analyzes, paired t-test for dependent groups to compare the pre and post-test scores of the experimental and control groups within the group, and Analysis of Covariance to make comparisons among groups. In ANCOVA analysis, variables were analyzed as separate models. Results According to the results, it was determined that the students' the Academic Self and Cognitive Flexibility posttest mean scores in the experimental group were statistically significantly higher than the pre-test mean scores (p <.05). There was no significant difference between the Academic Self and Cognitive Flexibility pre-test mean scores of the students in the control group (p> .05). Conclusion The cognitive flexibility and academic self-perception of the experimental group in which the tactical game model was applied developed positively. It could be said that the tactical game approach in physical education and sports teach will be beneficial for the acquisition of physical skills as well as the development of skills in the cognitive and affective domain.
