Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to identify the levels of perception of communication skills in students? in the Physical Education and Sports Teaching, Sports Management, and Coaching Education programs in a Physical Education and Sports College. It was investigated whether certain features, such as: gender, age, department, class level, regular participation in any sports branch, location, type of high school graduated from, the department graduated from in high school, the education level of the parents?, the parents? occupations, the number of siblings in each family, and the family?s total monthly income, would cause a significant difference in the levels of perception of communication skills among the students?.Manisa Celal Bayar University Physical Education and Sports College students constituted the center of this study. The subject group only consisted of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year students from this University. A total of 466 students, including 161 female and 305 male, participated in this study. The participants were chosen by a specific method which is not random. In this method, only suitable participants are included in a study sample.The input data of this study, related to the levels of perception of communication skills, was collected by means of the ?Communication Skill Evaluation Scale?, whose validity and reliability were checked on students later, developed by Korkut (1997). Data was also collected by means of the ?Personal Information Form?, which was prepared by the investigator in order to identify the demographic features of the students. The given information was evaluated in the SPSS (version 12) packet program by using ANOVA and "t" test techniques.The results of this study indicate that the levels of perception of communication skills in the Physical Education Sports College students were quite high. Also, according to the gender of the participants, a significant difference was found in favor of the female students in regards to the levels of perception of communication skills. It was also found that the differences according to certain features, such as: gender, age, department, class level, regular participation in any sports branch, location, type of high school graduated from, the department graduated from in high school, the education level of the parents?, the parents? occupations, the number of siblings in each family, and the family?s total monthly income, are not significant.Key Words: Communication Skills, Physical Education Teaching, Sports Management, Sports Trainer, Play and Sports.
