Özet (EN)

Aim: In the present study, it was aimed to evaluate serum Ischemia Modified Albumin (IMA) level in patients with Behçet?s disease, whose essential pathology is vasculitis, and it?s relationship with the disease activity. Methods and Results: The study groups included 57 patients with Behçet?s Disease, 28 were active and 29 were inactive, and 30 healty individuals, who do not use any drugs and have no systematic illness. The diagnosis of Behcçet?s disease was made according to the criteria of the International Study Group for Behçet?s Disease. The mean IMA levels of active and inactive patients and control group were 0,689±0,049, 0,608±0,099, 0,619±0,049, respectively. The mean IMA level of the active patients were found significantly higher then other groups (p<0,05). Similarly, OSİ index showing the oxidan stres was found significantly higher in active Behçet?s disease patients. Increase in inflammatory markers (CRP, ESR) in active patients with Behçet disease was observed more characteristically. Exept CRP and ESR, no significant differences were observed for other parameters between control group and the patients with inactive period. IMA was showed a negative correlation with TAS and a strong positive correlation with CRP and ESR in total patients with Behçet?s disease. Conclusion: It was observed that increased IMA levels in patients with active period of the Behçet?s disease may associated with increased inflammation and oxidan stres in this period of the disease. Therefore, it was suggested that IMA level may be considered as a bio-marker of incrased oxidant stress for evaluation of activity of the disease.Key words: Behçet?s Disease, IMA, oxidan stress, activity marker.
