Özet (EN)

The purpose of this study is to determine the dermatological quality of life, sexual disorders and the anxiety and depression levels of Behçet?s patients, and also to make a comparison between these patients and psoriasis patients whom the most number of studies in this area have been carried out and healty volunteers.Besides the 51 patients who applied to the Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Dermatovenerology between October 2010 and July 2011 and who were diagnosed as Behçet?s disease according to the diagnostic criteria of International Behçet Disease Study Group, and at the same time 51 psoriasis patients applied to the same department and who were matched in terms of age and sex were also taken into the study. The control group was selected from healty volunteers without any dermatological and psychiatric diseases who were in similar qualities of age, sex and number of Behçet?s and psoriasis patients. While the Dermatological Life Quality Index (DLQI) was implemented on only psoriasis and Behçet?s patients, socio-demographic and clinical data form, the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and the Arizona Sexual Experience Scale (ASEX) were carried on the whole participants. As a result of our study, it was determined that on both psoriasis and Behçet?s patients, higher levels of depression, anxiety and sexual disorders were observed than the control group. It was also determined that the quality of life deteriorated quite reasonably. Moreover, it was determined that the quality of life of patients with active erythema nodosum-like lesions decreased quite reasonably than those who did not have. When it was compared in terms of sex, it was determined that the average ASEX points were higher and there were more sexual disorders on women both on the Behçet?s and psoriasis patients and on the control group. In terms of the BDI, no meaningful statistical difference was observed on the three groups between the sexes. In the average BAI points, a difference was observed between the sexes, mainly higher in women. When Behçet?s and psoriasis patients were compared, average points of ASEX, BDI, BAI and DLQI were similar. In terms of the sub-groups of DLQI, it was determined that there were more deteriorations in emotional life and cognitive functions on psoriasis patients. In accordance with these results, we are of the opinion that a psychiatric evaluation would be appropriate in Behçet?s patients when deemed necessary
