Examination of the validity and reliability of the dubousset test in individuals with low back pain

The aim of this study is to examine the validity and reliability of the Dubousset functional test in evaluating the functional level in individuals with low back pain. In the study (mean age: 42.10±11.98 female:60 male:15) 75 people aged 18 years and over who volunteered to participate in the study with low back pain were included. The five repetition sit and stand test, the components of the Dubousset Functional Test, The Up and Walking Test,The Step Test, The Down and Sitting Test, and the Dual-Tasking Testwere administered to the participants.Their duration in seconds was determined.Patients were rested for 1 hour and Dubousset Functional Test was applied again.Pain level was evaluated with the Visual Analogue Scale. Pain level was measured again before the patient was evaluated and after the test was completed.Five repetitive sit and stand test was applied only once.Self-report assessment was made using The Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire. According to the results we obtained, the test-retest reliability of the Up and Go Test, Step Test, Sit and Stand Test and Double Task Test, which are the components of the Dubousset Functional Test, were found to be excellent (ICC≥86). The Standard Measurement Error values of the Dubousset Function Test were respectively. It was found to be 0.32 sec for The Up and Walking Test, 0.12 sec for The Step Test, 0.14 sec for The Down and Sitting Test, and 0.25 sec for the Dual-Tasking Test. According to the results of our study, Dubousset Functional Test is valid and reliable in evaluating patients with low back pain. It can be used in the clinic for the evaluation of function in patients with low back pain.
