Perception of intolerance against uncertainty and anxiety offinding a job in the clamp of career adaptability

Abstract (EN)

Career adaptation, which consists of mental and emotional characteristics, has an important role in the individual's entry into the business world and maintaining his success. Regarding this point of view, the effect of career adjustment on the level of job anxiety and intolerance of uncertainty is inevitable. On the other hand, it is not possible to consider of intolerance to uncertainty, which has an important role in the decisions that the individual has to make, separately from the anxiety about finding a job. For this purpose, a survey has been conducted on 1241 students studying at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Mehmet Akif Ersoy University by using the survey method. Intolerance to Uncertainty Scale developed by Buhr and Dugas (2002), Career Adaptability Scale developed by Savickas and Profeli (2012), and Job Anxiety Scale developed by Demir (2016) have been used in the survey. According to the findings of the study, it has been determined that the career adaptability of the individual has a significant effect on both intolerance of uncertainty and job anxiety, and there is a significant and positive relationship between them. It has also been determined that intolerance to uncertainty has a direct effect on job anxiety and that there is a significant and positive relationship between them. According to these results, it has been concluded that the anxiety and control dimensions of career adaptability dimensions have the most effect on intolerance to uncertainty. At the same time, it has been determined that the anxiety and trust dimensions have the values that affect the job anxiety the most. It has been determined that the dimension of intolerance to uncertainty, which has the most effect on job anxiety, is stressful and distressing. When the results of the difference analysis made in the context of demographic variables are evaluated, in the context of the gender of the students; It has been determined that there are significant differences in intolerance of uncertainty and job anxiety. In addition, in terms of the department and coming to the department willingly; significant differences were found in all scales. In the context of the economic income of the families of the students; It was concluded that there were significant differences in career adaptability and job anxiety. When the age factor was evaluated, it was determined that there was a significant difference in intolerance to uncertainty. In the context of the sector in which students plan to work after graduation; It was determined that there was a significant difference in job anxiety.
