Abstract (EN)

Memory is defined as the ability of individuals to store what they have learned together with their experiences in their memories and use them again when needed. Memory, which is the field of study of various disciplines, is examined within the scope of the discipline of architecture in the study. In this study, it is attempted to highlight how much of the memories of individuals are spatial and what the memorable aspects of the space are. In this context, Tokat house museums, which are not included in the literature but have a place in the memories, have been determined as the study area within the framework of the city of Tokat. Today, museums are considered as memory spaces because they contain the concept of remembering and reflect social memory. In this context, house museums are examined as memory spaces in this study. Since the house museums are the houses of important people who contribute to the artistic, cultural, scientific and political life of the society they live in, house museums undertake the task of memory in order to keep the recollection of these people alive and to protect the values they have revealed. In this context, in this study, the buildings in the identity of house museums in Tokat, which has an important place in Anatolia with its historical and cultural values, are discussed and these structures are analyzed as memory spaces. The architectural qualities of the buildings, their relationship with the memories and experiences of their past users are discussed. Key Words: House Museums, Tokat, Memory, Space.
