This thesis examines the love connection—or the failure to form such a connection—between Ruhan, who works in a second-hand bookstore and is a university student, and Ali Kemal, a nihilist character. The film that constitutes the thesis employs classical cinematic language. It aims to explore how people are swept away in pursuit of love and emotions, as well as how social relationships are formed. Furthermore, it seeks to analyze how platonic love influences a person's life decisions and the perspective of a nihilist character on life. In doing so, it aims to provide an existential reflection on the reasoning of our lives. The emotions behind Ruhan and Ali Kemal's encounters—obsession and attraction—are transformed into a profound journey through cinematic art. Given that cinema serves as a medium for societal and interpersonal interaction, the work incorporates experimental elements within classical cinematic language, utilizing various images, metaphors, symbols, and analogies. Careful efforts have been made to establish bridges between disciplines, differentiating the film's language from classic Hollywood style. This is because metaphors and other qualities have historically served as powerful means of expression in all forms of art, especially in cinema. In this sense, cinema, literature, and poetry intertwine, particularly through images and light, enhancing the potential of cinematic language in terms of aesthetics, perception, and reception. This study also aims to provide a perspective on how cinema directs interpersonal communication, emotional connections, and cultural understanding. It seeks to observe how the phenomenon of viewing life through different lenses—between nihilist Ali Kemal and love-valuing Ruhan—creates significant disappointment. In this context, the study is also a cultural exploration. Through the story of Ruhan and Ali Kemal, it aims to examine how art scrutinizes the boundaries of social connections. Although the passionate Ruhan, who values love, and the disillusioned Ali Kemal exhibit tendencies toward forming a connection, many people's lives, like theirs, ultimately end in disappointment. This thesis and film also address how these traces can be conveyed through cinema.
