Assessıng the assocıatıon between total antıoxıdan capasıty, total oxıdan levels and oxıdatıve stress ındex ın benıgn ovarıan tumors

Every women could experience masses in ovarian tissues along their lifes. Benign ovarian cysts are one of the frequently seen pathologies in reproductive period of women. Endometriomas and mature cystic teratomas (dermoid cysts) are the most seen overian cysts. Some of the cysts are asymptomatic and pelvic pain, dysmenoria, infertility, palpable mass could be the symptoms and findings. Cysts could be diagnosed incidentially by ultrasonographia done for another indications. Some factors have been found to be responsible ethiologyically but none of them are truelly the distinct reasons.30 women whom operated for the diagnosis of ovarian tumors and 30 women who had not got any ovarian masses but had done diagnostic laparascopy added to this study. Between those two groups, total antioxidan capacity, total oxidan level and oxidative stres index values has compared. Furthermore, both endometriomas (n=16) and dermoid cysts (n=14) were compared with control group.In this study, in total antioxidan capacities, no statistically difference has been found against control group (p=0.191).Limited difference in total oxidan levels has been found between two groups (p=0.058). Control group total oxidan levels were lower than the other group.Between those two groups, significant difference in oxidative stres index values has observed. The control group oxidative stres index values were lower than the patient group (p=0.041).Comparision of endometrioma with control group, no statistically difference was found in total antioxidan capacity however, an increase in total oxidan level and oxidative stres index levels has observed. Comparision of dermoid cysts with control group, no statistically difference was found in total antioxidan capacity, total oxidan level and oxidative stres index levels.The results which haven found in our study could be result of the tumor.
