Özet (EN)
Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), is a peripheral vestibular system disorder that is frequently encountered and disturbs patients. It can be treated by applying different maneuvers according to the involved canal (posterior, lateral, anterior). As a result of clinical observations, considered that the effects were different of BPPV on patients. Purpose of the study, The quality of life and anxiety level of patients with the affected channel in BPPV and also evaluation of residual imbalance status in patients whose BPPV treatment was completed after appropriate maneuvering with the affected canal. For this purpose, The Vestibular Disorders Activities of Daily Living Scale (VADL) and Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) were administered to patients aged between 18 and 65 years, who were diagnosed with BPPV as a result of anamnesis and necessary tests, before BPPV treatment, and were administered Berg Balance Scale (BBS) after treatment. As a result of the study, there was no statistically significant difference between the VADL and HARS scores according to the affected channel. However, when the sub-dimensions of the HARS are examined separately, ther is no difference in the psychic sub-dimension, while it is statistically significant in the somatic sub-dimension (p=0.046). With the Mann Whitney U test, it was determined that the difference was between the posterior – anterior groups. A statistically significant difference was obtained between VADL scores according to the affected channel (p=0,000). With the Mann Whitney U test, it was determined that the group that made the difference was the anterior semicircular canal. Knowing from which aspect and to what extent the affected semicircular canal affects the patient will facilitate the approach to the patient and planning the treatment process.
