Abstract (EN)

The aim of this thesis study is to examine the morphometric features of the Berdan Dam Basin using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). In this study, Digital Elevation Model (DEM) was created by using digital topography maps. Basin characteristics and morphometric maps were obtained from DEM. The circumference of the basin is 215.49 km, its area is 953 km2, the length of the basin is 58.44 km, and the length of the mainstream is 59.47 km. The highest point of the basin is 3507m and the lowest point is 40 meters. Lands higher than 3160 m in the basin are 0.75% and lands lower than 1428 m are 53.77%. The slope class of 0-5% in the basin is 113 km2 (11.78%), and the slope class of 25%+ is 288 km2 (30.29%). When the aspect of the basin is examined, 18% in the southeast, 7% in the northwest, and 1% in the flat areas. Considering the land use status of the basin, 463 km2 (48.58%) is forest land. Preliminary surveys form the basis of watershed management studies. With this research, some morphometric features of the Berdan Dam Basin were revealed.
