Difficulties in school management faced by the administrators of high-school institutions in Beşiktaş and Sarıyer

In this thesis; the difficulties that school administrators face in school management will be discussed by explaining the concepts of education, management and administrators which are seen as the basis of school administration. There are various problem areas about school administration in Turkey. These problems can be classified in different ways. In this study, school administration problems, physical and financial problems and institutional problems will be discussed as three main issues.As there are limited number of school administrators that work Beşiktaş and Sarıyer?s government high-schools that are in the study basis areas, no extra separation is made and study is done in all of the schools in that area. According to this study, the difficulties that are faced by the government high-school administrators are mostly because of the physical, financial and institutional such as lack of space and equipment, financial problems and organizational problems rather than the lack of age, education, self-confidence or communicative skills. This hypothesis is tested on the administrators of the study basis area by a 34 item five-level Likert type survey that was developed by the researcher. The data gained was entered to SPSS 16 programme, then printed, and as a result of analysing these printouts, the relation between various problems that the administrators in the Government High-school Institutions face and their personal features and other factors are tried to be explained. According to this, the most common difficulty that the administrators face was found to be physical and financial difficulties, institutional problems and finally humanly difficulties by order. Out of these difficulties, again by order, we can say that financial problems, lack of space and equipment, organizational problems and finally personal features were again found to be the main problems that the administrators face.
