Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to determine the emotional eating status of individuals applying to the Dietetics Polyclinic of KırĢehir Training and Research Hospital and to investigate the relationship between emotional eating and depression, anxiety, and stress levels by determining their levels of depression, anxiety, and stress. This cross-sectional study was conducted with 395 individuals aged between 18 and 65 years. The participants completed the Turkish Emotional Eating Scale and the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS-42). Additionally, a questionnaire consisting of 11 questions was administered. The collected data were transferred to a computer environment and analyzed. Statistical significance was considered at p<0.05. Of the participants, 68.4% were female and 31.6% were male. Emotional eating was observed in 7.1% of the individuals in the study. A positive and statistically significant relationship was found between emotional eating and depression, anxiety, and stress, as well as between emotional eating and behaviors such as eating under tension, coping with negative emotions, self-control, and control in response to stimuli (p<0.05). It is suggested that further studies are needed to explore this topic in more depth. Keywords: Emotional Eating, Depression, Anxiety, Stress, Diet
