Abstract (EN)

In this study, the shear walls length is determined with virtual work theorem in the reinforced concrete buildings which are at the 1. and 2. earthquake zone, in Z1 , Z2 and Z3 soil classes, have 1, 1.4 and 1.5 importance factors and has 7,9 ,11 stories. The dynamic analyses of systems, determined shear wall lengths, are analyzed with sap2000 (the structural analyses program). The displacement rates, the results of analyses, are compared with boundary values in DBYBHY-2007 and shear walls sufficiency are examined. In the first chapter, the requirement of using shear walls in the structure is emphasized. In the second chapter, some information is given about shear walls layout. In the third chapter, some information is given about design of shear walls. In the fourth chapter, Earthquake behaviors of shearwalls at the shearwall walls are explained. In the fifth chapter, the sections of 2007 DBYBHY about shear walls are summarized. In the sixth chapter, some studies about determination of shear wall length are mentioned. In the seventh chapter, calculation steps and the results of calculated shear walls length are given. In the eighth chapter, the results are transferred and the conclusion of this approach is shown that it is usable for 7 and 9 story structures.
