Abstract (EN)
In order to be used in the construction project stages constructural codes and seismic codes have been developed. Each country has developed its own standards, revised them as appropriate and enforced their usage. In Turkey TS 500 and TS 498 codes are used as reinforced concrete and load codes inline with seismic codes for constructions. The experiences, observations and analysis on completed designs show that constructions usually show overstrength than initial assumptions. This over strength is usually associated with the reallocation of internal forces, strain hardening, higher material strength than those specified in the design, story drift limitations, minimum requirements, multi loading effect of non structural elements.This study focuses on the over strength of the constructions that are done based on seismic codes via designing 3, 5 and 7 floor buildings with high ductility and reinforced concrete moment resisting frame. The nonlinear analyses of the constructions are done with nonlinear time history analyses. In order to execute that analysis 28 seismic records are investigated with scaling. With this methodology the over reaction of the constructions under increasing lateral loads are examined and resistance over strength is calculated along with detailed evaluation of the results.
