Abstract (EN)

In this study, the usability, fastness values, antibacterial and antioxidant properties of the extract obtained from white mulberry leaves (Morus alba L.) were investigated. Cotton and woollen fabric, wool yarn, polyester, leather and pine wood materials were used for dyeing. Copper-II-sulphate (CuSO4), ferrous-II-sulphate (FeSO4), alum (KAl(SO4)2), silver nitrate (AgNO3), Reşadiye clay and Önal-1 mordants were used as fixative and colour modifier. Dyeing was carried out using pre-, co-mordination, post-mordanting and mordant-free dyeing methods. Fastness analyses were performed according to international standards (TS EN ISO 105 CO6, TS EN ISO 105 E04). Colour codes were determined with the help of Pantone color quide colour atlas, CIE-L*a*b* and K/S values were determined with the help of Premier Colorsan SS 6200 spectrophotometer. White mulberry leaf structure analyses were performed by NMR, 13C, TLC, LC-MS methods. Antibacterial tests of the dyed fabrics were performed by disc diffusion method and antioxidant activity tests were performed by FRAP method. The dyeing processes using AgNO3 mordant in cotton fabric, AgNO3 mordant in wool fabric and CuSO4 mordant in leather material reached the highest level of activity in antibacterial tests. According to FRAP test results, it was determined that the best extract was hexane extract. Since the textile fabrics to be produced according to these procedures have antibacterial properties, it is thought that their use in health centres (hospitals, health centres, clinics) will contribute positively in terms of hygiene. The extract obtained from white mulberry leaves (Morus alba L.) was found to be an effective source of natural dyestuff for dyeing cotton fabric, wool fabric, wool yarn, polyester, leather and pine wood.
