Silver necklaces of Beypazarı

The purpose of the research is to observe silver necklaces made by filigree technique which is one of the methods of silver processing and a sort of traditional Turkish handicraft that is stil alive in Beypazarı/ Ankara.The scope of the research consists of jewelers, silversmiths and ateliers that have been existing in Beypazarı for many years. The labourers who have worked in the ateliers have been interviewed and an observation document has been formed with 100 model photos.In the research it has been mentioned about the history of Beypazarı; traditional Turkish jewelries; equipments and kinds of jeweler; handicrafts of Beypazarı; manufacturing technique, stages and styles of the filigree.The sample of photos about silver necklaces of Beypazarı is included. Furthermore in the observation document information about photos is also presented.In the result of the research it has seemed that labourers in the ateliers have started to work from apprenticeship years and become professionals by doing their jobs fondly. The number of basic equipments in the ateliers and conditions for production are sufficient and satisfactory. It has also been observed that the jewelers who have also developed themselves in designing are desirous to expand through abroad.The jewellery in Beypazarı has been mostly developed if we consider productions in the whole market and the reason of this is the troublesome producing process of the filigree art. Briefly, the art of filigree requires lots of sacrifice and patience.
