Information search anxiety: A study on Çankaya University graduate students

The main purpose of this study is to draw attention to the issue of library anxiety, which is the reason for the existence of libraries, which is a major obstacle for users to experience high levels of satisfaction with library services, to measure the anxiety level of graduate students in the process of searching for information, and to study the studies prepared so far on this subject to take it from a general point of view. In the study, a user survey was conducted to determine whether Çankaya University master's and doctoral students feel anxiety about using the general library and searching for information. The questionnaire technique collected the data required for the research. As a result of the evaluation of the survey questions, including the "Information Seeking Anxiety Scale", it was concluded that the students experienced little anxiety. It has been determined that the factor that causes anxiety the least is the obstacles related to computers, the internet and electronic resources, and the most causing factor is the obstacles related to information resources. It was concluded that information seeking anxiety was significant according to age, employment status, English language level, education level and stage, computer use skills, department and institute. However, there was no significant relationship between academic task and gender variables and information seeking anxiety. It was concluded that all factors that prevent information seeking anxiety have a positive and robust correlation among themselves. Determining the extent to which information seeking anxiety and it's factors are reflected to users, minimizing or completely eliminating this anxiety will enable users to use information searching and library services effectively. Therefore, eliminating the anxiety of seeking information will increase the academic success of the user.
