DeryaMaster, Faculty of EducationAdvisor: Assistant Prof. Dr. Sadegül Akbaba-AltunJuly 2005, 86 PagesThe aim of this study is to designate the opinions and the suggestions ofprimary school supervisors at Bolu National Education Directorship and thecomputer coordinators about the supervision of information technology classrooms atprimary schools, and to determine the criteria for the supervision of informationtechnology classrooms.In this study, qualitative research methods were used in data analysis.Interviews and document analysis techniques were used. For the validity of thestudy, triangulation method was used.It was concluded that the supervisors do not carry out their role of guidanceabout IT classrooms adequately. Similarly, since the supervisors do not have enoughinformation about IT classrooms, they can not supervise the teachers in using theinformation and communication technology in their lessons. However, they can notcarry out their roles about whether ICT is used in classrooms through the usage aimsadequately.The supervisors mentioned that they use the forms and circular of theMinistry of National Education at the supervision of physical conditions of ITclassrooms. Also, about their inspection roles, they told that the MNE didn?t givespecial roles for IT classrooms, and they intervene to the event when there is a bigproblem about IT classrooms.Primary school supervisors should guide about the use of technology ineducation, consider the items in circulars about IT classrooms while inspecting thephysical situation of IT classrooms, and supervise the computer coordinator teachersabout whether they carry out their tasks about the IT classrooms.Keywords: information technology classrooms, primary school supervisor,supervision, computer coordinator.
