Funtionality and use of information design system of the opinions on their conditions: The case of BAİBÜ

This study includes the information design system and the usage cases in Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University. In this research, it is aimed to examine the functionality of information design products that enable users to easily go to their destination in the campus of university. Accordingly, parallel to the effective use and awareness of infor-mation design, access to each point of the university campus by saving time, developing and growing BAIBU campus information design products (orientation design signs, information, symbols, indicators, icons, pictograms, campus map, traffic signs) opinions of users over the current status were taken. During the preparation period, the permission of university and experience of the graphic arts expert of the department of fine arts education were utilized in terms of design problems. In addition, the opinions of the academic staff, administrative staff and students in the faculties about the information design products in the campus and in the faculties were determined by questionnaire method. In order to identify deficiencies within the campus and information design products related to design problems, four sub-problems were examined. The research model is descriptive scanning model. In order to collect the data, a questionnaire with 30 questions, 2 open-ended questions prepared by the researcher, was applied to the users. In this questionnaire, a total of 500 participants, 100 administ-rative staff, 100 academic staff and 300 students, were interviewed. In order to determi-ne the construct validity of the questionnaire, the data were subjected to exploratory factor analysis. The results of the questionnaire were measured in the context of dimen-sions in the SPSS 'program and the findings were interpreted in accordance with the sub-problems. The Cronbach Alpha value was found to be 0.920, and in this case, it can be said that the measurement tool makes measurements with little errors and the reliabi-lity is high. As a result of the research, it was found out that the information design sys-tem in the campus was inadequate and dysfunctional and identity problems were obser-ved in the design. In addition, suggestions have been made to reorganize and improve the existing infrastructure.
