The use and importance of technology in the socialization process of knowledge: A case study of Anadolu University

This study aims to determine how academics experience new communication technologies in the process of the socialization of knowledge. Two theoretical approaches were utilized in this study: (1) The Network Society, and (2) Connectivism. The Network Society theory states that through the networks established throughout the world using advanced communication technologies, the world has been re-structured both socially and economically. Connectivism asserts that learning itself is primarily a process of establishing or creating a network.Research was conducted as a case study. A theoretical matrix was established based on the theoretical basis of the research, and the content of this matrix was converted into queries for individual interviews. This was followed by a questionnaire based on the data obtained from the individual interviews and conducted after the interviews to establish the opinions of scientists.The findings and conclusion of this study provide an analysis and interpretation of the data gathered from both the interviews and the questionnaires, and various recommendations are made based on the results.
