Abstract (EN)
The human being today spends most of its time in closed areas. For health purposses it is very essential that the air in those closed areas has a certain quality. The fresh air can be provided by mechanical systems or by natural air ventilation. Natural air ventilation is more preferable compared to mechanical systems from economy, health and energy saving point of view. There will be no need for additional fresh air system if, from the very beginning of design phase, correct decisions are made for shaping, layout/placement and building facade/surface. In this paper, four projects are selected and analized for their relation to natural wind in Istanbul districs of Beylikdüzü and Avcilar, where new and intensive urban constructional activities were in place from the year 2000 onwards. Placement, direction and shaping decision of buildings and their environmental relation were main criterias for the selection of these four different projects. Advanced computer technologies provide us today advanced ecological design capabilities in the very beginnig of project decision phase. In this work, regional climate data have been extracted by Revit software from BIM (Building Information Modeling) systems. Thereafter, the Project and its environment have been 3D mass modelled in Scetch Up software and simulated in wind tunnel with Flow Design programm. After these analyses, the building- wind relationship has been clearly observed. The analysis and research made for selected projects in Beylikdüzü area show us, that natural ventilation thechniques are not considered. To achive an efficient natural ventilation, it is essential to have, alongside with a correct building placement and direction, also the correct shaping and design of facade/surface.
