The effect of computer assisted teaching on academic success and attitudes to the science teachers' candidates

The general aim of this research; General Biology Course on cell division and genetic, preservice teachers academic achievements determine to whether significant differences according to traditional teaching and computer assisted instruction (CAI). Also computer assisted instruction studying preservice teachers to determine their attitudes towards computers are among the aims of the research. The study was carried out with the participation of a total of 105 preservice teacher studying at first education and secondary education of the department of science education grades 2. Quasi-experimental study carried out in this study, the traditional teaching and computer assisted teaching have been used. CAI applications software suitable for performing subject was used.. The appropriate software was used for realization of computer assisted teaching practice. This software has been applied to be used by teacher candidates. Data of this research were obtained from the attitude scale and academic achievement scores for the preservice teachers' opinions, a total of eight weeks at the end of the experimental procedure. These data were analyzed with descriptive statistical techniques. From the analysis of relevant data in this study determined that CAI studying preservice teachers contributed to academic achievements and supported to attitudes towards the use of computers according to traditional teaching.
