Abstract (EN)
The software sector is crucial regarding its impact on countries' technological and economic development. The importance of the software sector is increasing day by day. The increasing importance of the software sector also increases the importance of software teaching. This research aims to reveal the problems encountered by students in computer programming education related to software teaching and their solution suggestions. The study group of the research is 45 students studying computer programming in vocational schools affiliated with Sakarya University of Applied Sciences and 8 instructors. In addition, 9 sector representatives where the students interned and worked also participated in the study. In this process, all participants evaluated the software teaching in computer programming. The research aims to obtain data that will enable computer programming students to receive a more efficient education, instructors to provide more efficient education, and to train the staff needed by the sector. The data collected from the participants were analyzed using a case study design from qualitative research methods. As a result of the research, differences were observed in students' individual interests, motivation, and knowledge levels during software teaching. Physical conditions are not sufficient. Classrooms where software courses are taught are inadequately equipped. Course curricula are not enough. Implementation of theoretical courses is insufficient. The number of teaching staff does not meet the need. The knowledge and experience of the graduates are inadequate for the sector. Graduated students do not fully meet the needs of the sector. Students who graduate from computer programming should be educated in a way that can adapt to the innovations of the age with more up-to-date curricula.
