Abstract (EN)

Both the rapid development of technology and the fact that the air transportation is quick, reliable and economical increase the demand of air transportation day by day. This increase in demand brings with it a lot of problems. First of these problems is that available current airports are becoming incapable of handling the increase in demand. In order to solve this problem either the current airports should be expanded or new airports must be built.In the design and planning phase of new airports, first of all, the appropriate direction of runway should be determined. For this, the wind data at the land on which the runway is going to be built and the crosswind limits of the critical aircraft that is going to use that runway should be analyzed.In this study, a computer program aimed at determining the appropriate runway direction was developed. This program, developed in CSharp programming language, was named ?Runway Direction Computation-PYH?.The PYH program analyzes the wind data for the land on which a runway is going to be build by taking into account the acceptable crosswind limits. As a result of the utilization factors obtained from the analysis, the optimal direction for the runway(s) can be calculated.
