Abstract (EN)

Anatomic Variations of Paranasal Sinuses In 1200 Cases With Computerized Tomography Aim: The paranasal sinus is one of the regions with the most anatomical variation is one. Physical examination, endoscopic examination and computed tomography (CT) are used in the diagnosis of paranasal sinus variations and diseases. Our aim is to determine the variations seen in Erzincan, to guide endoscopic sinus surgery and to help prevent possible complications. Material and Method: Coronal and axial images of 1209 patients who applied to the clinic with any complaint and requested paranasal sinus CT were examined retrospectively and anatomical variations were evaluated. Patients aged 18-65 years were included in the study. In the biostatistical analysis of our study, the Statistics Program For Social Scientists (SPSS) (Version: 22) package program was used. Pearson Chi-Square analysis and Fisher exact probability analysis were used to compare the data. The statistical significance level in the analyzes was accepted as p < 0.05. Results: Of 1209 patients in the study, 644 were male and 565 were female. The mean age of the patients was 33.7. In 1209 paranasal sinus CT scans, agger nazi in 799 (66.1%), onodi cells in 256 (21.2%), haller cells in 106 (8.8%), concha bullosa in 536 (43.3%) patients, Pneumatized conchae in 119 (9.8%), pneumatized superior turbinate in 229 (43.3%), paradoxical middle turbinate in 164 (13.6%), paradoxical lower turbinate in 38 (3.2%), 835 (%) Deviation of the septum in 69 people, pterygoid process pneumatization in 642 (53.1%) people, anterior clinoid pneumatization in 348 (28.8%) people, maxillary septation in 178 (14.7%), suprema concha in 22 (1.8%) people, Pneumatized crista gali in 94 (7.8%) patients, nasal septum pneumatization in 308 (25.5%) patients, maxillary sinus hypoplasia in 8 (0.7%) patients, upper turbinate agenesis in 60 (5%) patients, and no variation was found in 48 (3.9%) patients. Statistical evaluation of anatomical variations determined in the study according to gender and localization were analyzed using the SPSS package program, Chi-square and vi Fisher exact probability tests. Septal deviation, anterior clinoid pneumatization, and maxillary septation were statistically more common in males. Conclusion: Paranasal sinus variations are important as an ENT study area. At least one variation was detected in 96.1% of 1209 paranasal sinus CTs we examined throughout our study. It is important for surgeons who will perform surgery in this region for chronic sinusitis or other reasons to consider the variations in this region in order to prevent possible complications.
