Abstract (EN)
In this study, it is aimed to determine the opinions of administrators and teachers about the quality, content and functioning of education and training, selection of students and teachers, and school environment in order to develop a measurement tool to determine the institutional climate of Science and Art Centres providing education to gifted children in Turkey. In addition, the aim of the study is to determine the opinions of students about the quality, content and functioning of education and training, teachers and school environment. Factor analysis techniques were used for the construct validity of the scale. Descriptive survey method was used to develop the scale. In the scale development study, data were collected from 275 administrators and teachers working in Science and Art Centres (BİLSEM) and 654 students receiving education in these centres. In the scale development study, data were collected using convenience and snowball sampling. Microsoft Office Excel, Lisrel 9.1 and IBM SPSS Statistics 24 package programmes were used for data analysis. In the creation of the item pool, data were collected by using the interview technique through a semi-structured interview form with a group of administrators, teachers and students. The item pool was created in line with the opinions obtained from the data. With the pre-sample application, it was determined whether there were any incomprehensible points in the items and necessary corrections were made. Experts were consulted for opinion validity in scale development, and exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted to ensure construct validity. Cronbach's Alpha was calculated within the scope of reliability studies. Within the scope of item analysis, item difficulty and two-series correlation tests were applied. As a result of the research, Science and Art Centres Institutional School Climate Scale was developed. Science and Art Centres Institutional School Climate Scale I for administrators and teachers consists of 16 items in one dimension and Cronbach's Alpha value is 0,927. Science and Art Centres Institutional School Climate Scale II for students consists of 19 items in one dimension and Cronbach's Alpha value is 0,924. Science and Art Centres Institutional School Climate Scale I and II is a valid and reliable climate scale. In addition, Levene's Test, t-Test for Independent Groups, One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Kruskal Wallis-H test were used to find out whether the participants' BİLSEM climate levels vary according to demographic characteristics. As a result of the findings, it was found that the BILSEM climate levels of the administrator and teacher participant group showed significant differences according to the educational status, seniority in BILSEM and reward variables. It was found that the BILSEM climate levels of the student participant group showed significant differences according to the variables of mother's education status, the programme attended at BILSEM and the duration of BILSEM education.
