The role of medical ethics in the history of science

The history of science is which involves many sciences and is divide into branches, and each of which has its own way of working is based on the inquiring philosophical views. Accordingly, the history of science is the recording of the activities of sciences objectively, based on experimentation and observation, and in a chronological order. Since their existence, humans have contributed to scientific researches with the activities they have carried out thanks to their curiosity. The existence of medicine also emerged with humans and took place in the field of applied sciences in the history of science. As a science and a profession, medicine is of great importance in terms of human values and is equipped with ethical principles, since human health is in question. Thus, medical ethics emerged as a solution quality in the face of any problem in terms of people being able to treat each other fairly. Physicians and other health professionals in the medical field should act within the framework of ethical behaviors related to medical practices. For this reason, while researching and applying the principles of medical ethics covering the fields of medicine, the process of its emergence with its many features from the past to the present should be considered. In this study, it is aimed to reflect that medical ethics does not consist of today's principles and dates back centuries. Under the historical journey of medical science in the history of science, some issues that constitute the content of medical ethics are discussed together with their history. With this method, it has been revealed that medical ethics does not only belong to the present day, but has a long history that is not known by many. Based on this view, medical ethics has been evaluated within the framework of historical, philosophical and contemporary conditions.
