Mobile/smartphone as crime tool for informatics: Adana example

One of the most important inventions of the twenty-first century are smartphones. They play an important role in people's lives. Telephone conversations, video chat and call, communication, internet banking, mobile banking transactions, internet shopping, e-government, e-ticket, exam documents, exam results, messaging etc have gradually increased the demand and usage of smartphones. Although smartphones simplify the daily lives of people, they have brought so many negative effects in the lives of the users. Malicious usage of smartphones has rapidly in the recent years. Nowadays crimes committed due to the usage of smartphones have also increased for example mobile phone theft, mobile fraud, mobile hacking, denial of service attack etc. Increase in such crimes has begun to occur in the recent years. This study mainly focuses on crimes committed by use of smartphones. In this study a questionnaire has been prepared to collect information about users' experience of smartphones, any problems faced while using smartphones and any kind of crimes committed while using smartphones. The answers to the questions given by the participants about the use of smartphones and the problems they encountered while using these devices were analyzed with the SPSS (23) statistics program. The problems faced by the participants due to malicious usage of smartphones are discussed in detail with the past literature and also laws made by official institutions of the government for example how the judicial system solves such problems. The purpose of this study is to the show the malicious usage of the smartphones and crimes committed by the use of smartphones by some of smartphone user. The aim of this study is to inform the society and raise awareness about the malicious smartphones users and crimes that can be committed by the use of smartphones and also how people can defend themselves against malicious smartphone users as well as how these negative effects can be reduced and solved.
