Effect of the information technologies on information management: an application on informatics sector in İstanbul

Abstract (EN)

The basic aim of this study was, in the light of the experience of the information technologies sector, looking at the effect of the information technologies on information management.Our study was composed of three parts. In the first part, information concept and it?s main frame, process of data access to information, information hierarchy and information types were explained in a detailed way. In the second part of our study, necessary informations of different means of information management, similarities and differances between this means, the basic reasons of this differences, information management period, the effect of information technologies on information management and the usage of information technologies in Turkey were laid on the table. In the third part of our study, an application carried out with an information technology firm in İstanbul in order to analyse relationship between intranet, internet, database, hardware and software technologies about information technologies and producing, saving, sharing and using of information technologies on information management. For the implementation part of our research, data acquired through survey method were analized by the SPSS pocket program. In this context, internet, intranet, database, hardware and software technologies were considered as independent variables, while information management was considered as a dependent variable. Regression analysis was made to explain the relation between, internet, intranet, database, hardware and software technologies that were defined as independent variaties by us, and production, saving, sharing, usage of the information that forms the every single process of the information management. Besides, we attempted to explained workers? evaluation of information management phases if they show differences with their sexual, age and if they get education about information technologies with t-test anova analysis. Our analysis shows that, there is a strong relationship between all of the components of information technologies and all of the phases of the information management. Besides, the results imply that, workers? evaluation of information phases weren?t affected by workers? sex, age and their having education about information technologies.Keywords: Information, Information Management, Informatics Technologies, Data.
