The effect of information technologies on office operotions

We see the information as the most important production factor in the globalization process. Operations regarding the acquisition, interpretation, categorization, storage, sharing of the information and gaining new information by analysis are performed with the usage of information technologies. Therefore; while office operations are conducted manually and classically in traditional offices, in the contemporary offices of today they are performed by using information technologies. Since there are offices in all kinds of economic and social organizations, the office concept is at a large scale by all means. The revealing of information technologies? effect to office operations carries high importance due to offices being the essential element of organizations which produces both products and services and of management functions being conducted at offices. In this research it is aimed to reveal the effect of information technologies to office operations as a result of rapidly growing information technologies being used in offices recently and to determine the usage level they have. This research is a literature research as well as a field research. Because; surveys had been held in sample public and private sector organizations, data has been collected and evaluated. And at the last part; how the information technologies and systems are affecting office operations and in which actions they are used mostly are researched with the survey method. At the end of the research; the fact that information technologies are used more intensely on some fields of office operations than others and the most dominant positive and negative effects thereof are determined. According to data obtained; information technologies are mostly used for document preparation by a rate of 79,6 %. The most important contribution that information technologies provide to office operations is, providing velocity by a rate of 55,1 %. The leading negative effect that these technologies cause is, system faults and system insufficiency by a rate of 47,9 %. Additionally; it was observed that a large scale of office workers are negatively affected from rapid technologic developments, and the utility success did not change according to the location information technologies usage training was received.
