Importance of the occupational health and safety applications at building and facility management

Building and facility management has become important due to population growth and the change of the demand in big cities. Quailified building projects raised the need of professional management services. Parallel to the use of high technology in apartments/buildings/sites we see the modernization of the designs too. At the same time, residences which applied professional management systems, by the quality of its social activities and keeping the words given and the services provided without any problem which have been promissed during the sales process, became the focus point of both local and foreign investors for living purposes and also investment. The scope of the integrated facility management has developed in line with the demand of the consumers and start offering an hotel confort at home by adding concierge services. While building and facility management services making the life easier for the people and expanding the comfort zone, it also incorporates the services covering dangereous/very dangereous works. At this point where more than one work category have been covered by building and facility management services process, occupational health and safety applications has become an issue that needs to be paid attention. Within this thesis; the risks, accidents and occupational diseases that might come accross during the process of the building and facility managent shall be explained and measures need to be taken shall be evaluated, as per Occupational health and safety act number 6331.
