Investigation of natural ventilation performance in buildings by building information modeling

Abstract (EN)

In today's world where the consumption of energy resources is very high, it is aimed to save energy with natural ventilation by considering design criteria instead of excessive energy consuming structures such as mechanical ventilation systems. Natural ventilation, which performs regular air changes by keeping indoor air quality at a certain level, is also very important for human health. In this study, natural ventilation performance of a type plan in 3 different urban fabrics in Elazığ city was surveyed. The selected areas of aplication were identified as the courtyard urban texture in Izzet Pasa neighborhood, gridal in the Eastern city neighborhood and scattered gridal structuring in the Nail Bey neighborhood. Three different urban patterns were modeled by using Revit program from BIM (Building Information Modeling) systems and climatic data of the region and dominant wind direction were also included in the study. Flow design program was used for wind analysis. The effect of wind direction, window openings, building orientation, indoor or residential settlements on the natural ventilation performance in the interior spaces was examined for two mutual housing plans within a fixed building within the determined urban tissues. In addition, different wind directions and scenarios where different window openings are activated within the housing are also evaluated. In the simulations, wind speed is constant and 1m / sec. as determined. The simulation results were presented as Flow Design screenshot and the comments were analyzed with compliance values fraom 1 to 5.on a point Likert scale adapted to these images.
