Dislipidemili tip 2 diyabetik hastalarda B12 vitamininin rolü için biyokimyasal karşılaştırmalı çalışma

This study aimed to evaluate potential correlations between serum vitamin B12 levels and important indicators such as fasting blood sugar and glycosylated hemoglobin, which play a role in the regulation of hyperglycemia. Additionally, the aim of this study is to shed light on possible correlations between serum vitamin B12 levels and lipid profiles and atherogenic index in order to elucidate the role of vitamin B12 in diabetic dyslipidemia. The research was carried out in Dikar province of Iraq between August and October 2023, and 75 patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, divided into three groups according to the amount of vitamin B12 in their serum, and 50 healthy volunteers participated in the study to determine the normal values of the parameters. According to the results of the study, the serum insulin and glucose levels of patients with type 2 diabetes and severe dyslipidemia were significantly higher than the serum insulin and glucose levels of patients with type 2 diabetes and mild dyslipidemia. On the other hand, no such increase was observed in the control group. Both moderate and severe dyslipidemia patients exhibited significantly higher levels of serum triglyceride, total cholesterol, LDL, and VLDL compared with the control group (P≤0.05). During the study, a significant decrease (P≤0.05) was observed in serum HDL levels of patients with moderate dyslipidemia and severe dyslipidemia diagnosed with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) compared to the control group. According to the findings of the study, the lipid profiles of type 2 diabetics with severe dyslipidemia were significantly higher than those with mild dyslipidemia, and it was determined that there was a significant relationship between lipid profiles and vitamin B12 levels in type 2 diabetic (T2DM) individuals with dyslipidemia.
