Numeric analyse of fuel consumption conditions of an urban bus fuelled with biodiesel

As known, petroleum based fuels are already using widely in diesel engine vechiles and their utilizing area widening day by day. Taking a glance at last fifty years several petroleum chrisis occured cause of social, economical factors and reserve locations witch accumulates near, similar regions. Energy intensive sectors are directing their research and development facilities to work on alternative energy sources and efficiently using existing energy sources because of increasing energy demand. Using a vegetal produced biodiesel fuel is a increasing new trend because of it?s environmental advantages and lower production costs. Most of the developed countries in the world tries to increase usage of the renewable energy sources according to their energy politics. During this work we investigated the effect of using biodiesel and diesel fuels on fuel consumption of an urban bus, witch goes on predifined route and conditions. Results of performance expirements entered in a specified computer-based simulation program and the outputs discussed. At the chosen route we obtained that power and brake torque measurement results are decreasing with using biodiesel and specific fuel consumption of biodiesel is higher than diesel fuel.
