Analysis of a family TV series in terms of values education: Gönül Dağı

Mass media and their contents, which have been developing and changing from past to present, directly affect the society. Especially television content, which is available in every home and can maintain its effect despite the developing technology, has a critical importance in terms of social development in general and individual development in particular. In this context, the aim of this study is to determine how the series Gönül Dağı contains the values expected to be acquired in the Türkiye Century Education Model. There search model was determined as a case study, which is widely used in qualitative research. The data of the study consisted of 10 episodes of the Gönül Dağı TV series published on the Youtube platform, including the two episodes with the highest viewership rate for each season. The data of the study were analyzed through descriptive analysis. As a result of the analysis of the data obtained, it was concluded that the Gönül Dağı series dealt more with the values of love, sensitivity, responsibility, helpfulness, respect and family integrity. In addition, it was determined that the relevant values were emphasized in a remarkably sustainable way in each season. Although the values of aesthetics, privacy, modesty and freedom remained in the background, it can be said that all the values analyzed were included at different frequencies in different episodes. It was emphasized that the series Gönül Dağı, in which a value is discussed approximately every minute, has content that can be watched with the family and can raise awareness about values. It is stated that it is worth watching in terms of values education among the content in today's mass media by discussing it with a critical approach in line with the studies in the literature.
