Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of obesity and to evaluate the factors affecting the nurses working in the nursing staff of Bolu İzzet Baysal State Hospital, Köroğlu Unit (health officer, midwife, nurse). The universe of the study consisted of 206 nurses working between the dates determined in the Köroğlu Unit of İzzet Baysal State Hospital. The whole universe was taken before the sample selection was made. 174 (84.46%) of the medical staff formed the research group. In the study, a questionnaire form including Personal Information Form and Obesity Evaluation Form was applied as data collection tool. Data analysis was done in SPSS (ver: 22.0) program. Kruskal Walls Test, Mann-Withney U Test and Chi-square tests were used. At the end of the study, 54.5% of the health care workers were in normal weight (95 persons), 31% (54) were overweight and 11.5% (20 persons) were obese. On the other hand, 2.9% (5 persons) of the health workers are in the weak group. When the factors affecting obesity in nurses; those who are married to health workers, health officers, those with low education levels, those with higher working years, those with higher working years, those with more children, those who think that they are overweight, those with surgical treatment, those with chronic diseases, and those with less The incidence was high. As a result, the prevalence of obesity is high in healthcare workers and some factors that increase the frequency of obesity can be taken under control and can be prevented. Although the prevalence of obesity is high in healthcare workers who should be aware of obesity, it is thought that organizing training programs in order to raise awareness about healthy nutrition is important in terms of decreasing the frequency of obesity.
