Abstract (EN)

Tasks such as cleaning, painting, inspection, maintenance and supervision on the walls of large buildings or other structures require robots with the ability to climb and manipulate. Many security measures such as scaffolding installation, security equipment provision, insurance costs required for all kinds of maintenance and repair, inspection and surveillance activities to be performed on the surfaces of high buildings are costly and human factor is involved in these processes, causing life losses. In this context, wall climbing robots become very necessary equipment for this type of operation because of their low operation cost, fast operation possibility, performing all operations without any pre-preparation and most importantly minimizing the loss of life. In this thesis, a wall climbing robot design, which can move autonomly on smooth surfaces and can be clamped to the surface by using suction force, simulation and prototype production in MATLAB environment are made. The robot has the ability to move on vertical surfaces. Clamping is achieved using suction pumps. As a result of the clamping, the robot can understand the clamping information by means of the sensor and can detect the wall that comes across by the ultrasonic sensor.
