Assessment of the energy investment policy of a facility using multiple-criteria decision-making systems

Energy is becoming an issue that needs to be addressed more intelligently in an industrialized and increasingly technological life. The production, supply and use of energy in accordance with the supply and demand is ensured by national and international energy investment policies. In this context, multi-criteria decision-making methods have been used in order to meet the energy needs of a factory in Aydın province, which is rich and convenient in terms of underground and surface resources. Multi-criteria decision-making methods were applied in this study alone and by hybridization. In this way, it is aimed to determine the most appropriate energy investment policy for the factory in Aydın and to evaluate and compare the technical suitability of the methods. AHP, DEMATEL and ANP were used as multi-criteria decision-making methods. All methods were applied alone. AHP and ANP were weighted according to their direct significance. Since DEMATEL is not a sorting method, the results are expanded and weighted. In the next step, hybridizations were made as AHP & DEMATEL and DEMATEL & ANP. For all methods, the interactions between the criteria of the problem were examined, the methods were tested for compatibility, and their suitability and agility were tested. As a result of this study, it was found that AHP & DEMATEL is the most suitable method for establishing energy investment policy and hybridization brings the results of different methods closer to each other. The results obtained from this method and all methods were evaluated together and it was found that the most suitable alternatives for factory investment were geothermal, wind and solar respectively. The most effective criteria for decision-making were found to be economic, production and environmental criteria.
