Abstract (EN)
A reduction of minimum 15 per cent reduction per unit of national income in energy usage has been set as a goal to be achieved by 2020 in the course of the process which has commenced with the enactment of the ?Law on Energy Efficiency? on May 2nd, 2007. In achieving this goal, quite a few responsibilities are placed on the shoulders of buildings and industrial enterprises of a certain size and magnitude, starting with awareness. Such public and private enterprises must employ a set of systematic approaches for an improved energy performance by adopting sustainability in energy efficiency through energy management. As stated by Professor Arif Hepbaşlı, PhD, Energy management consists of two aspects, namely, the ?managerial? and ?technical? sides. It should always be remembered that energy efficiency is first and foremost an administrative matter, and that savings technologies are simple and yet tried and true methods. [1] The fact that air traffic increases around the world in turn increases the importance of the airports each day. In such service buildings where activities are carried out every hour in the course of a year, energy management is among the most critical administrative structures that have an impact on both the cost aspect of the operations, and the environmental impacts. We have primarily examined the trends within Turkey and around the world as we touched upon concepts revolving around Energy and Energy Management within the confines of this study. Next step after this was detailing the impact created by energy efficiency on the environment as well as what businesses could do in the name of awareness. Once we have provided information on the system that needs to be established for efficient energy management, we have covered issues on the utilization of such information at the airports, and practicing all this information to the best possible end. While we were covering these subjects, we emphasized the importance thermal losses, as well as those systems put in place for thermal comfort. Finally, we have considered and discussed the expected energy performance at airports, in addition to those variables effecting energy performance.
