Implementation of a school-wide positive behavioral support program in a primary school

The aims of this research are to design a school-wide positive behavioral support intervention by investigating the current situation in a primary school and to examine the intervention's impact on reducing students' problem behaviors, improving their social skills, and increasing their academic competence. It also aims to reveal teachers' views on the causes of and ways of dealing with problem behaviors and their views on the intervention after its completion. The research, designed in a primary school in Eskişehir province, Tepebaşı district, was carried out with seven teachers and 100 students with a mixed methods intervention design. During the research process, the needs of students and teachers were revealed by observations and interviews with teachers at the school, and a positive behavioral support intervention was designed by considering those needs. Before and after the intervention was completed, teachers' opinions on the reasons for and ways of dealing with problem behaviors were recorded. In addition, data on problem behaviors, social skills, and academic competence levels was collected from students. The data obtained in the study was analyzed using quantitative and qualitative techniques. The findings of the study were discussed from various angles based on the literature, and suggestions for application and advanced research were given.
