A CINEMATOGRAPHER?S WORLD: ÖZDEMİR ÖĞÜTABSTRACTThe thesis named ?A Film Cameraman?s World? aims to investigate the life of Özdemir Öğüt ?a cameraman- and his contributions to Turkish Cinema.Özdemir Öğüt as a cameraman -or as a director of photography in contempopary saying- worked in shooting many films in Turkish Cinema. Additionally, he made documentaries about historical heritage in different places in Turkey starting from Nemrut to Egean district.The interviews with Özdemir Öğüt in this study revealed about his efforts for Turkish Cinema, technical obstacles and diffucult situations that he had to face during the film making process.It?s a fact that there has not been many studies reflecting cameramen?s world until today. Cameramen try to convey what they see on their side to us although no one is willing to see the world from their side. They sometimes made us laugh and sometimes made us cry. We thougth the real world was what we saw on screen in our childhood. Didn?t we want to be in the shoes of our childhood heroes that we admired? This study mainly focuses on the life of a cameraman behind the scenes in order to understand the professional?s world in Turkish Cinema.Key Words: Özdemir Öğüt, director of photography, Turkish cinema
